可能很多人都覺得,英文簡歷就是中文簡歷的'翻譯版本,然而……很遺憾,至少就我個人來看,並非如此;首先,從形式上,中文簡歷排比性內容較多,且呈現遞進性的結構更容易吸引閱覽者注意,需要更多的整體性,然而從語言習慣來看,英文簡歷採用並列式結構較多,各部分結構之間關聯關係相對較少,更加強調內部的獨立性。而從內容上,按照中式習慣,大量排比獎項、證書、課題絕對是王道,在英文簡歷中,證書和學歷則更多作為title index出現,更看重具體內容、描述和條理,所以,將自己的事蹟分清主次,列好條目才是提高英文簡歷整體評分的關鍵所在。最後,在核心內容配置上,英文簡歷的objective(意向?)和summary(個人簡述)相對中文來說,更加強調簡潔和描述性,直截了當遠比從原因到結論的寫法來的巧妙,且summary可以視情況適當提前,而不必一如中國古風,謙遜的放在最後。
