開場白

關於姓名，畢業院校

考研原因幾乎是每個導師都會關心的問題，因此最好把這個問題就放在自我介紹裡面說了。這部分的內容我們務必要讓考官感到我們選擇這個專業是經過深思熟慮的，是一個理性的選擇而不是一時衝動。通常我們可以從以下三個方面來回答。
興趣
興趣，即強調對所報考的專業懷有極大的興趣(have significant interest in…)。如果本科就讀的專業與報考的專業一致，則可以說明想繼續深造(further education)的願望。如果不一致，則要說明報考專業對你的吸引力 (…appeals to/attracts me a lot)。
優勢
優勢，即強調研究生相對於本科生在知識、學術方面的優勢，如：知識面更廣(wider knowledge)，學術更專業(more professional)，眼界更廣闊等(broaden one’s horizon)。
益處
益處，即強調考研對你的未來的積極影響(have a positive effect on…)，可以從求職、職業規劃、人生經歷等方面入手進行說明。可參考的詞彙、短語如下：be helpful, contribute to, be beneficial to, be conductive to, be a definite advantage, become a strong point when it comes to… 等等。
對於那些在職考生或有工作經驗的考生來說，考官樂於知道他們為什麼(放棄工作而)重新學習。考生可以直言在工作發現某些知識或技能很重要，希望能通過學習在這些方面進行提高 (In my work, I found … is rather important. I always believe that one will easily lag behind unless he keeps on learning. So I choose to go back to school and improve myself。)。
