眾所周知，在英語中，比較的概念是通過形容詞／副詞的比較等級來表達的。
但英語中的一些其它詞類或 結構亦可表達比較概念，從而不同程度地起到比較
作用。本文擬就比較的若干特殊表達法作些初步探討。
一、表示方位的介詞
above,over,below,under,beneath,beyond,before,behind等可用來表達比較。
在表達 比較概念時，這些介詞的含義通常是其基本意義的引申，即表示"在等
級、標準、地位、價值、品質、能力等 方面優於（超過）…或落後於（低於）…"
等。例如：
love truth above everything else. 我們最愛真理。
is rather behind the rest of her class in maths. 在數學方面，
她比班上的其他同學差些 。
quality is beyond that of others. 它的`質量比其他的質量好。
method has an advantage over that one. 這種方法比那種方法好。
5. Children under two years old cannot be received intothe
kindergarten. 兩歲以下的兒童不 準進幼兒園。
6. He is beneath me in education. 他所受的教育不如我。
7. Work should come before pleasure. 工作應比娛樂重要。
8. He is next in rank below the mayor. 他的地位次於市長。
短語ahead of也可表示"優於"、"勝過"。如：
9. He is far ahead of his class in English. 他的英語遠勝於班上的其
他同學。
