每年12月3日的“國際殘疾人日”(World Disabled Day)是一年一度的活動，旨在促進人們對殘疾問題的理解和動員人們支援維護殘疾人的尊嚴、權利和幸福。1992年10月12日至13日，第47屆聯合國大會舉行了自聯合國成立以來首次關於殘疾人問題的特別會議。大會通過決議，將每年的12月3日定為“國際殘疾人日”(International Day of Disabled Persons)。
歷屆主題
2012年國際殘疾人日的主題是：“共建更美好世界，造福全民，造福參與發展的殘疾人”。
2011年國際殘疾人日的主題是“人人共享美好世界，推動殘疾人融合發展”。
2010年國際殘疾人日的主題是“讓千年發展目標具有包容性：增強世界各地殘疾人及其社群的力量”。
2009年國際殘疾人日的主題是“為所有人實現千年發展目標：賦權給殘疾人和其在世界各地的社群”。
2008年國際殘疾人日的'主題為“《殘疾人權利公約》：人人享有尊嚴和正義”，英文：Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Dignity and justice for all of us
2007年國際殘疾人日的主題為“為殘疾人提供體面的工作”。
2006年國際殘疾人日的主題是“資訊無障礙”，意在強調殘疾人在使用網際網路等資訊通訊技術獲取資訊時，不應存在任何障礙。
