簡歷是大多數人實踐文字設計的最常見載體。人人都希望簡歷給人留下好印象，因此或多或少會告誡自己「注意排版」。問題在於具體注意些什麼。以下十條是最基本的規則，若能做到，你的英文簡歷已經比 90% 的中國人(包括英文系學生)的規範美觀了。
一、標點符號一律使用半形。
二、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感嘆號、問號和它們後面的字元之間必須留一個半形空格。
錯誤：Hi,I'm an oumake this app for me for free?Because,you know,I have this brilliant ideabut Idon't know how to code.
正確：Hi, I'm an youmake this app for me for free? Because, you know, I have this brilliantideabut I don't know how to code.
三、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感嘆號、問號和它們前面的字元之間不可留任何空格。
錯誤：I think our current versionistoo skeuomorphic ,why don't we ,uh ,make it flatter so that it looksmoremetro-ish?
正確：I think our current versionistoo skeuomorphic, why don't we, uh, make it flatter so that it looksmoremetro-ish?
四、將長串數字分開寫，降低辨識的難度。
錯誤：13927396856
正確：139 2739 6856 或 139-2739-6856
五、書名、雜誌名、電影名、音樂專輯名、英文中出現的外文(包括拼音，人名除外)用斜體。
錯誤：In 2008, I created thisamazingservice during my internship at Playboy which is totally LBS avant lalettre.
正確：In 2008, I created thisamazingservice during my internship at Playboy which is totally LBS avant lalettre.
六、對於電話區號應用不同的`符號區分。
錯誤：+86-139-2739-6856
正確：(86) 139 2739 6856 或 (86) 139-2739-6856
七、對於有序列表，應採用「阿拉伯數字+ 英文句點+ 半形空格」的方式。
錯誤：
Threewords I hate:
vation.
2,Leverage.
3Synergy.
正確：
Threewords I hate:
vation.
rage.
rgy.
八、括號弧線外要留空格，弧線內不要。
錯誤：Byte Press(née Tangcha ) isthebest Chinese-language eBook app. Period.
正確：Byte Press (née Tangcha) isthebest Chinese-language eBook app. Period.
但同一個單詞內的括號例外：
錯誤：After the linguistic turn,peopleare getting addicted to pretentious bracketed words such as ‘(ex) plain(ed)’.
正確：After the linguistic turn,peopleare getting addicted to pretentious bracketed words such as‘(ex)plain(ed)’.
九、用彎引號，不要用直(的彎)引號。
錯誤："Bazinga!" 'Youarepwned!'
正確：“Bazinga!” ‘You are pwned!’
十、正確使用各種短橫：emdash (—) 是破折號，en dash (–) 用來連線年份、時間，是「到」的意思，hyphen (-) 是連字元。
錯誤：Glenn Gould (1932-1982)isprobably my one and only hero - the person who taught me to thinkdifferentlywell before Steve Jobs.
正確：Glenn Gould (1932–1982)isprobably my one and only hero — the person who taught me to thinkdifferentlywell before Steve Jobs.
注意：
若寫作時用兩個 hyphen (--) 代替破折號，Word 等字處理軟體會自動將其轉為 em dash。有鑑於 em dash 輸入不便(Mac 上是shift + option + -)，這也是英文寫作通用的替代法。
