The impact of religions on the Festival in China and America
Abstract
For humans, the religion has been an important part of culture and history. Everywhere in the world has the trace of religion, China and America are not the exception. About one third American people are Christian, many important holidays, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving Day, Easter, were based on the religion, this reflects that the influence of the religion on American culture is so deep. As a contrast, although Three Doctrines of China, Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism, influence the society so deep too, the holiday which based on religion are not as popular as Christianity holiday. Some folk custom holidays, such as Spring Festival, Pure and Bright Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, are became so popular in contrast. From this we know that the influence of religion on the culture is little in China. These show little differences of religion and culture between China and America. This thesis will introduce the origin of religion firstly, and introduce some Chinese holidays and American holidays which based on religions respectively, and then I will analyze the difference of culture between China and America.

摘 要
對人類來說，宗教已成為文化與歷史中1個重要的組成部分。在世界上的每1個地方都有著宗教的痕跡，中美兩國也不例外。美國的基督教徒約佔其國民的`3分之2，其國內許多重要的節日，譬如聖誕節、感恩節、復活節等都是基於宗教而來的，由此折射出美國文化受宗教的影響之深。與美國相反的是,儒、道、佛3大宗教雖然在中國影響深遠，傳播廣泛，但與宗教有關的節日卻少之又少，且影響侷限於其教眾內，對普通民眾影響不大，其它民俗 性的節日，如春節、清明節、端午節反而流傳下來成為舉國而行的節日，由此我們可以看出中國文化受宗教的影響較小。這可能是中美兩國宗教與文化中的1個小差異吧。本文從宗教入手，詳細介紹了宗教的起源，分別介紹了中美兩國與宗教相關的節日，再進1步分析兩國文化之間的差異。
